Totes Amaze Balls

Handbags are just so glorious to lust after...a bag can totally change the look of your outfit and update your regular pieces so easily. I think it is better to buy High St super trendy bags as you are probably only going to want to wear them for the current season. But a timeless piece can be something you save towards and really invest in to keep forever - even if it is retired to the back of the wardrobe for some seasons!

The current trend is for small saddlebag models like the Chloe Drew Bag  as modelled here by Laura Fantacci from WIT blog.

Or also proving incredibly popular is the Alicia Shoulder Bag £149 at Jigsaw...

I love the idea of a small bag, but I always end up with multiple carrier bags as well to haul all my bits and pieces around, ending with the charming effect of looking a lot like a bag lady.  Another trend  for this season has been the Bucket Bag as proven by the Mansur Gavriel model which sells out almost before it has hit the market...

But for regular everyday out and about and hauling the kids to school amongst all the other seriously glamorous tasks of my daily life, I have become firmly wedded to the Tote Bag. I started with a cheaper High Street version to see if I would really get on with it - you know the drill? Would it just be too big? Would it fall off my shoulder with the straps being too short? Would I just overfill it and give myself backache? Could I live with the same bag everyday? I fell in love almost instantly and have not looked back and managed to nab myself a second one from J Crew which has become my new best friend.

My current Spring picks on the High Street are:

John Lewis Eden Tote Bag -£39 in grey and navy. Even has zip pocket and phone pocket inside to avoid the black hole conundrum some of these bags can present!

Zip Shopper Bag from Zara £39.99 with a nod to the current boho tassel vibe for Spring. Interior pocket and magnetic top fastening too. I love this shade of not quite grey and not quite beige!

Really want to see this one in the flesh. Such a perfect shade of tan for this season and looks as if it would age perfectly too. Oasis Unlined Leather Shopper at Asos £38 (genuine leather and inner sip pockets!).

Downing Tote in Persian Red from J Crew £64 (on offer). I think this red could be classed as an easy neutral in my wardrobe as it just lightens all the denim, khaki and white!

What sort of bag are you carrying at present? Which bags do you have on your forever wishlist?
