We have been experiencing all weather varieties imaginable, and sometimes they all occur before lunchtime! Trying to figure out what to wear is taxing enough when the weather forecast is correct, let alone when you are faced with unlimited possible outcomes.
I quite like the change to a new season and the chance to bring out a different wardrobe again, but I like to take my time in changing over. I am usually the last to embrace my boots in Autumn, and I am often not in a proper coat till December. But I love the slightly cooler days rolling in, as I get a chance to style up my outfits with scarves and long cardigans, all manner of jackets and shawls and jumpers. The list is endless... I have found a few ideas out there for you to embrace too, as the days get shorter and you are stuck between your summer and winter wardrobes.
First up, keep the ankles out, but snuggle up with a cosy knit and have a jacket handy in case you need an extra layer.
Or, add in a scarf as big as a blanket...and a blazer is warm enough for your top layer.
You can even get away with a coat or a cardigan over a simple tee and still have bare ankles.
The combinations are endless and loads of fun... we are coming into the seasons where your outer layers are what most people see everyday. Learning to mix them up a little avoids the usual wardrobe fatigue and panic shopping December can bring.
My top wishlist items for this kind of dressing at the moment are:
Revel in the fact that your coat only needs to be an extra layer at present, not a great thick duvet to carry around. Have fun with simple unlined shapes and colours and then layer big jumpers (and thermals) when the colder months hit? Or even get on trend with the latest shape and embrace a cape...
Fingers crossed for more of this fabulous autumn weather...
